Original Story: [Wed 16th Jul, 2025 03:30 BST]:

The second Pokémon Presents showcase of 2025 will be taking place next week, and ahead of this broadcast, The Pokémon Company has issued a reminder on its social channels.
As part of this, the official Pokémon social channels in Japan have also shared a new image (above). It shows Pikachu, who is apparently preparing something, and in front of the same Pokémon is what looks to be a DJ setup.
"The "Pokémon Presents" to be streamed on Tuesday, July 22, will have its viewing page open from 9 PM on the same day. It seems like Pikachu is preparing something...? Stay tuned for more updates!"
Again, there's only one week to go now, and this event will be taking place on 22nd July 2025. There are no other details just yet, but many trainers are expecting to at least hear more about Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which will be released on the Switch and Switch 2 this October.
There has also been a rumour doing the rounds this week about another Nintendo Direct taking place soon, with third-party developers said to be sitting on multiple Switch 2 game announcements.
What do you think The Pokémon Company might be teasing here? Let us know in the comments.

Whatever it is will be a completely meaningless cash grab and will be a demonstration of the enormous amount of money that TPC wastes on side projects instead of making their own games higher quality. But the fans will surely eat it up as always. Maybe I shouldn't have left this comment, because I'm sure no one cares and it's been said so many times before. Oh well, at least this is a nice place to vent.
My heart wants to believe this means we’re getting a bunch of classic Pokémon soundtracks shadow dropped on Nintendo Music, but my brain knows it’s either teasing some side mode in Z-A (like the contests in Gen 3 or the restaurants in Gen 6) or some upcoming Pokémon rhythm game. Any of these options is fine actually
@NinjaWaddleDee No, your complaint is totally fair; I so think it would be fine though if @KidSparta's claim is accurate, since that would actually be an example of them working to make their actual games better.
Riddler Khu was teasing a new app a while back, so perhaps it could be a rhythm game one? I'm just theorizing.
That coffee table is literally Joy Con from side view.
My guess is another series of music collabs like they'd done a couple times (Like the Miku one and P25).
I know it's a multimedia franchise but man every Pokemon Presents is such a brutal sit with its 20 minutes of irrelevant blather about the TCG and Go before getting to the actual point.
You know how many times these showcases are hyped up like this is the best thing ever, only to be mostly disappointed? lol
Hopefully they sneak in some classic Pokemon games for NSO.
NO! Pikachu! Don't play on the PS5!
@NinjaWaddleDee good comment as i dont play Pokémon, but what would a meaningful cash grab be (cause all games are cash grabs)?
Would it be a better quality version of arceus/open world design or maybe something that breaks the traditional rpg mode. Im actually curious what fans want because it seems like these games are selling well and coming at a consistent rate.
This is just probably hyping up Z-A news. They're not going to drop anything massive given that it's too early to tease Gen 10 and Gamefreak stopped doing anything meaningful spin-off wise for years at this point- aside from the fluke that was New Pokemon Snap.
I'll probably get Z-A, but I'm bummed that most of the reveal will probably just be new Mega Evolutions. Something I have no real interest in, given that I'm a collector and Megas won't be able to be transferred into HOME.
Switch 2 patches for the remaining Switch Pokemon games would be neat
I expect nothing less than announcement of gen 10 releasing on 30th anniversary. Maybe even the reveal of new mega evolutions for Legends. My dream would be mega Charizard and Mewtwo Z.
Everything would be useless. Apart from the same bs for mobile games like the last 10 presents also did.
We'll probably get another Mystery Dungeon, or perhaps a complete remake set of the Rangers trilogy with touch and/or mouse controls.
But what I really want is a physical compilation/s of the Gen I-III games.
@mariomaster96 : Sword/Shield and Legends Arceus in 4K, let's gooooo!!! (Ironically, I don't care if the treatment extends to the Let's Go games)
HEY! YOU! Pikachu....for NSO Online...if you have SW2.
Hey, it has a microphone. 😁
I don't actually expect it, but all the other Pokemon N64 games came to it and we have the hardware for it...
@Mana_Knight Dammit, you beat me to it.
I’d love the classic games to be on NSO but this won’t be that.
@Henchdog 😯Shocked Pikachu face.
@NinjaWaddleDee The side projects obviously aren't a waste whether you like them or not. Considering they've produced stuff like the TCG and Pokemon GO.
A net cast wide catches more fish, I don't bother with many of them myself but they have their audience beyond the mainline entries.
Just pouring money into mainline mega projects is the Square Enix mistake with Final Fantasy, where they put inordinate amounts of cash and ~up to 10 year dev cycles in the main games and many of the spin-offs rely on having played the mainline entry. It all comes crumbling down if the mainline entries aren't liked because the wait between entries is long and it leads to the series becoming irrelevant.
@ChopperDX Don't expect them to say a word about Gen 10 in this Presents. They're not going to reveal a new game when they're still trying to market Z-A. If you're waiting for Gen 10, mark your calendar for Pokemon Day (February 27, 2026), that's when we're likely going to see the Gen 10 announcement.
New Megas for Z-A though, that's a much more reasonable prediction for this particular Presents. They have to be hiding some kind of new Pokemon, forms, variants, etc. and since Megas are back, they can introduce more of those to satisfy the need for new forms.
@Bolt_Strike It would just be an announcement for gen 10. It would be a missed opportunity to not release the games for the 30th anniversary (it is a big milestone). there would be nothing better than release a new generation to celebrate it. If they even come up with an idea like that this is the last opportunity to announce the games. It would be roughly 7 month prior to a possible release. Gen 5-9 were all announced at the beginning of the year they were released and had 9 to 10 month in-between. They were also 3 years apart from each other, scarlet and violet turning 3 this November makes a new gen more than overdue. I think they pushed it back to polish it more (for announcement) and hit that anniversary release date.
@ChopperDX You're not getting it. Even an announcement of Gen 10 would cut into Z-A's sales, so that would be shooting themselves in the foot. They're not concerned with the game releasing on the anniversary. Pokemon is Pokemon, it sells regardless of when it releases. Heck, Legends Arceus released in freaking JANUARY, arguably the absolute worst month in the year to release a video game, and it still sold gangbusters. And with complaints about SV being too rushed/unpolished they are not going to want to be in a hurry to release this one a mere 4 months after Z-A, they're going to want to take their time. Your timeline is not happening, full stop. That would be a massive scheduling/marketing blunder on their part if they did that.
There are other things they can release on the anniversary. They could repeat what they did in 2016 for the 20th for example and finally give us main series games on NSO. They could come up with some other smaller title to celebrate the anniversary. There is no need for Gen 10 to release on the anniversary. You're just asking for a Sonic 06 moment.
@NinjaWaddleDee Now maybe I'm part of the problem as I will buy any game they put out as I've been a huge fan since it first came over to West all those years ago. But, even I have admit the quality isn't the best, infact for the amount of money Pokémon makes per year there's absolutely no excuse not to make better quality games, no excuse not to upgrade their game engine, no excuse not to upgrade their development size and do more testing before release. They need to treat the games like an AAA mega franchise instead of an Indie level rushed niche title. I've seen better improvements from smaller jrpgs like the Atelier Series.
@ChopperDX The 30th anniversary is next year and will be a year long celebration, so I'm certain gen 10 will be announced at next year's Pokémon day and will release in November that year.
Anything else is possible though at next week's showcase, I suspect some kind of mobile game will be announced, some Pokémon songs for the music app and maybe even a Remake announcement (fingers crossed it's Black/White).
@UltimateOtaku91 Gen 10 sounds likely and hopefully really good. Though, I think that the Legends Series will replace the remakes. As badly as I want Gen 5 remakes, the further they go with remakes, there will be less and less to improve, graphically wise, maybe a HD-2D Black and White Remake?
Pikachu is always printing money.
We have Pokemon Sleep and Pokemon Smile. Next up is Pokemon Wipe where Pikachu will teach us how to wipe our bums.
This is clearly teasing the release of the highly anticipated Meowth's Party
https://youtu.be/9kgtV0s3nek?si=_fI9w7Fst3K4JHdD
@Bolt_Strike i would say you are not getting my point. Nobody talked about this presentation can only be about legends z-a regarding any games for switch (2).
Arceus released only two month after DP remakes and that didn't impact sales by no mean. Announcing a new gen 3 month ahead of the next games release will do absolutely nothing. Legends is a spin-off and mainline titles always are the ones to generate the most money.
30 years anniversary is coming and nobody can deny it. If TPC or Nintendo want to (that is my wish/dream, nothing else...) celebrate it with the release of a new gen this presentation is the last call to announce them with realistic time frame between announcement and release.
Scarlet and Violet turning 3 this year is a clear hint that something is coming if the release is on pokemon day or just the announcement is to be seen. I would call it dumb to not take this opportunity and take it. But who am i to call this out?
Why would they release it on Pokemon day, 30th anniversary or not!
New gen Pokemon, that smells like holiday title. Has been the case at least last couple generations! Legends A-Z is in effect a holiday title for this year.
@ChopperDX We aren't getting a Gen 10 reveal here. At all. Believe most of us or don't, but the most we're getting is Z-A news and that's all.
"Arceus released two months after BDSP," Yes. Yet, BDSP was a faithful remake of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and was never going to sell as well as a brand new Pokemon game. That's usually how things work with the series sales-wise. Gen 10 is a new generation of Pokemon- and new generations tend to outsell the games in the middle of a generation. Z-A will be drowned out by the hype of Gen 10 if Gen 10 is announced before Pokemon Day 2026.
Also yes, the 30 year anniversary is coming next year. Gamefreak doesn't release games on the anniversary though. They'll announce the next game for the anniversary on Pokemon Day- but it'll be released in November- much like how Gen 7 was announced and released back for the 20th anniversary.
Also, yes Scarlet and Violet is turning three. They're clearly extending it's life to give Gen 10 a bit more time for polish. Z-A will tie everyone over, and the TCG is being kept relevant by a Mega Evolution set as well as a ton of filler sets that are releasing this year. If this isn't enough proof to show that we aren't getting Gen 10 until late 2026- I don't know what else you'll believe. I guess you'll just have to end up disappointed that Gamefreak won't announce the next generation of Pokemon on a Presents that's clearly going to focus on Z-A.
Edit: Also, Legends isn't a Spin-Off. It's mainline. Just like Black 2 and White 2 were mainline.
Would be pretty funny if it ended being something else entirely à la Drag x Drive (most likely it will be at least music related in this case, but still) - anyway, looking forward to this and the rest of the Pokémon Presents next week!
My reliable sources tell me it’s a Pokemon Puzzle League sequel
@VoidofLight believe whatever the hell you want. You don't know what is going to be revealed, so as i do not know it. I never stated it is a fact they will reveal it or not. From my first post in here i made it more then clear it is my wish. You on the other already made it a fact it will not get announced, something you could potentially be right with but the chances are 50:50.
Legends is not a mainline entry, plain and clear. And if it would, how would you explain releasing BDSP in November 2021 and Legends Arceus just 2 month later?
Two mainline games in 2 month? Those would for sure cannibalize each other.
Only because they didn't in the past it doesn't mean they never ever will do a release on an anniversary date.
You can leave your opinion where you want or put it where the sun doesn't shine, nobody cares.
I made up my theory and hopes. Do with it whatever you want but do not claim is expressed it as fact. That's obviously not true.
@ChopperDX “Legends is not mainline.”
Okay, so are you going to argue that with Gamefreak? Who officially counted it as mainline through interviews and official posts about the game? Because the devs and the company count it as a mainline Pokemon game.
The reason why BDSP didn’t cannibalize PLA is because again- they were faithful remakes. Remakes of games that already came out, which most people weren’t going to purchase again. PLA was a brand new game- and a sequel to the original Diamond and Pearl games- along with a prequel to Platinum.
Also, I know for a fact Gen 10 isn’t going to be until late 2026 because I’ve been following this series and it’s release patterns since I was in the third grade. If one thing hasn’t changed at all about this series, it’s that gamefreak always aims for a game a year- and aims for that game to release in the holiday season to maximize profits. They will never release a mainline game on the series’ anniversary. The only reason PLA released in January was because of an internal delay.
@rvcolem1 Thanks! A meaningful cash grab would be higher effort put into the main games. Instead, pokemon spends a lot on products and collaborations with other companies instead of enhancing their own games. Something like adding voice acting for instance, is a quality of life feature they have never added.
@UltimateOtaku91 And I swear games like atelier and y's even have better graphics than Pokemon on switch.
I think it'll be like the one in February, maybe also with a release date for a spinoff added to NSO. If GCN NSO is monthly, Pokemon Colosseum seems like the most natural fit for August's game (Sunshine in September, Luigi's Mansion in October, Path of Radiance in November).
Pokemon and Gamefreak are reviving the DJ Hero franchise! This time they've realized what makes DJ'ing really appealing in real life that was missing from the game back on the Xbox360 and PS3, the Pokemon version will come packaged with glowsticks and Class A drugs
Hopes
Switch Online releases
More information on Champions
Concierge release date
Dub of new pokemon season
I have a feeling the main focus of this presentation will be Pokemon Champions. While this could be really good for competitive, I personally couldn't care less. We'll also get a side peek of Legends Arceus too. It seems the Pokemon Company's focus on Nintendo game experiences has dramatically shifted, it's no longer the main priority.
@NinjaWaddleDee yep, and to top it off they also have voice acting, something that Pokémon games should have by now but I suppose that billion a year revenue isn't enough to fund VAs.
Can't wait for "Pokemon Radio, Stereo, Beats" a Paid Subscription service where you can listen to all the Franchises Music on the Go for a stupid price that Nintendo allows us to have for free!
Or it might be a Game...
@VoidofLight “ If one thing hasn’t changed at all about this series, it’s that gamefreak always aims for a game a year- and aims for that game to release in the holiday season to maximize profits. ”
Granted, both the original diamond and pearl and black and white saw Q1-Q3 released instead of Q4 outside of Japan.
I would take a Pokemon rhythm game.
But this is probably some crap that Game Freak isn't investing into making the games better
@AverageGamer Legends Arceus also released early in the year too
@ChopperDX The difference between this and the BDSP/LA situation is that BDSP/LA were two different flavors of Sinnoh revisits, one that was more traditional and faithful and one that was more modernized and ambitious. Having them close together as two different options made sense. With Z-A and Gen 10, there's not going to be that same kind of dynamic. They aren't similar types of games with conflicting directions, Z-A is going to be new, but Gen 10 is going to be far newer and more ambitious. Nothing can really compete with having a completely new region, a large number of new Pokemon, new characters, a new story, etc. That's why new generations sell the most out of any type of game. Plus it's probably going to be Switch 2 exclusive, which means it's going to be more next gen feeling which adds to the marketing. Gen 10 is going to overshadow everything, they're not going to want to begin marketing it until Z-A is out of the way.
And no, LA is a main series game. It's made by Game Freak and it has the same catching and battling gameplay, that's not enough for it to be a spinoff. At best you could call it a side series in the same way that the sandbox Mario games or Metroid Prime are, but they're still main series games.
Do we know that it's going to be in the holiday for sure? No. But they almost always have something for the holiday and that's what they're going to target. Meanwhile they have never released a game on the anniversary (aside from of course, the very first one). So far more likely that it's going to be announced, not release, on the anniversary while releasing for the holiday. It's not 50:50 in the slightest, the scenario you're describing is one that's unprecedented for Pokemon.
You keep pointing to the "oh it's been 3 years" which has been a pattern for quite a while, but if they were going to stick to that we'd already have Gen 10 announced by now. Z-A is hitting that 3 year mark and that's a fact. What you aren't considering is that the lack of a Gen 10 announcement at the 3 year mark could mean something else, it likely means that they think the 3 year cycle may not be necessary and/or feasible anymore. Game development is getting longer and more complicated, and Game Freak now has to deal with far more intensive hardware than they used to with advancements such as 3D graphics, HD resolution, and larger, more open game worlds (all of which have been cited by multiple developers over time as being intensive to develop and needing extra time), and we saw what happened with SV when they tried to make a modern feeling Pokemon game in just 3 years, people thought it was a buggy, unpolished mess. It sounds like they're listening to that feedback and now taking 4 years to make Gen 10 (honestly I'm of the opinion that after Gen 10 they should extend it to 5 and just release the new gens on the anniversary years while finding more smaller projects to fill the gaps, but we'll see what they do for Gen 11 and on).
I look forward to seeing how they continue to tank the pokemon franchise with low quality yearly releases.
@AverageGamer I know the Holiday release is after the games went global, but ever since then they’ve kept that up.
DJ Pikachu?
Or maybe they're hinting at mixing up the series to make it good again?
Just give me a Pokemon Yellow HD-2D Remix with Ash, Misty, and Brock as playable characters. Pretty please!
@VoidofLight So, now your backtrack, and changing it to " after the games went global". What a joke... Just admit your wrong, you can't predict what a billion company is going to do, and move on.
@AverageGamer I didn’t backtrack. Nothing you said changes the fact that Gen 10 is a Holiday 2026 release.
@NinjaWaddleDee this. I haven't enjoyed Pokémon since the DS.
Gonna be a lot of mobile game filler as usually. Assuming a minute or two of showing off/reminding people Colosseum & XD are coming to the GameCube app. The teaser is probably just adding Pokémon music to the Nintendo app. That or a Rhythm mobile game, as TPC doesn't make full-fledged spin-offs anymore. They really need to show off more of Legends ZA, like how it runs and how you'll acquire Mega Stones. In X&Y most of them were post-game only and it sucked, so how early you can or can't get them with the return of Megas being a selling point is gonna matter.
@foursider Pokémon Let's GO was the closest you're getting to a Yellow Remake, and they didn't even go all in with the interesting stuff and changes from the anime for that like Team Rocket invading the SS Anne. Couldn't even give Jessie & James their Lickitung & Victreebel from later on.
@NinjaWaddleDee The sad thing is based on the leaks, GameFreak knows people want changes but Nintendo tells them no. Nintendo and everything they're part of feels more corpo than ever, and with Pokémon specifically it feels more about crossovers and brand deals at this point than the games. The main games are on a CoD conveyer belt but without multiple teams on multiple lines, and spin-offs are all but completely axed in favor of mobile games that can bleed some people who whale and be shut off in a few years.
@shoeses What did the leaks say? What are nintendo doing?
I’m gonna hold off on being sure what I think a company, I have no insight into its daily going’s, is going to do. Sure, there’s precedence for some decisions. But there’s been precedence for a lot of decisions made in gaming that have been thrown out the window for whatever reasons.
With that being said, I have absolutely no expectations that Gen 10 will be announced. But I’m not gonna say it can’t happen. It also might not be a reveal in the traditional sense. More like a teaser they did for Gen 7. Just an announcement they are working on it, with a small sizzle reel of flashes of elements. But again, I have no expectations of any kind of news regarding Gen 10. Just that it’s not out the realm of possibility that at least something might be mentioned.
Probably just some rubbish mobile game or its related to Pokémon Champions. I am sure the Presents will be updates to mobile games, an in game event or two and a trailer for ZA showcasing some new element a new mega or something like that. I just skim through the Presents later in the day. 90% of it is just stuff I have no interest in
@shoeses Is it really Nintendo? I have a hard time believing that when Nintendo champions delaying a game until it's polished. I think it's more likely TPC, and especially the Creatures branch of TPC, that is pressuring them to have yearly releases. They're much more merchandising focused (although they have developed the 3D models, but they're also responsible for the TCG and toys), so they're probably encouraging Game Freak to rush games out so they can put out more merch junk to sell. That would make more sense, Nintendo rushing Game Freak would be very uncharacteristic of them.
It's gonna be a huge waste of time, isn't it? I kinda expect it to be something like more Pokemon music going to be on Nintendo Music now and some BS mobile game.
DJ Pikachu × Boiler Room
They are absolutely making a new "Hey You, Pikachu" game. Microphone built into the Switch 2 system, makes sense.
Pokemon rhythm game confirmed (and could be a blast, with Game Freak already boasting HarmoKnight in their portfolio). But that won't stop me from hoping for a new Pokemon Pinball (or at least a new match-three puzzler to succeed Shuffle) either. With Legends Z-A still on the way, I doubt we're getting news of anything comparatively more flagship anyway.
Hey you Pikachu 2 or we riot
They will announce Pokémon "Go 2 Your Room" based on how the comment section has been on this subject
Will Pikachu say "Pika, Pika, Pika." with English subtitles?
Btw, if this announcement will be a new Rhythm Pokemon game with banger musics, gameplay like Beatmania IIDX, sign me in.
You may poke me about it:
If they announce Gameboy (Advance) main line Pokémon games for NSO in this Pokémon Direct, I'll buy either Pokémon Scarlet/Violet and the DLC.
If they announce gen 1, 2 AND 3 coming to NSO (rather than just one set of games like they did at first with the 3DS versions of those games), I'll do the same with Sword/Shield.
If they announce Stadium (2)/Colloseum/XD connectivity with these games to boot, I'll buy Scarlet AND Violet, and Sword AND Shield, and their DLCs.
If they announce ALL of the above, I'll buy all of that, and get a year of Pokémon Home to boot. And any other Switch Pokémon game I happen to be missing. Which I think it's just the Pearl remake.
Pulled from my chat with a friend, sent him this list earlier today about what I think will be in the Presents.
TGC- some tournament and new card packs
TGC Pocket- trade changes and new pack
Unite- Anniversary event
Sleep- New pokemon
Battle Masters- New trainer
Cafe- New pokemon
Gen9- New terra raids and Switch2 upgrades
ZA- Some megas
Champions (maybe)
Gen10 (maybe but unlikely)
some form of show (someone mentioned concierge earlier)
oh, and whatever Go is doing
@NinjaWaddleDee
I respect the opinions of others, because expressing an opinion is something we can all do. However, sometimes some opinions come across as a "party pooper" or even dismissive, and that can be annoying. I repeat, not because of the negative opinion on the matter, but because of the way it is expressed.
Now, that of investing in side projects/spin offs, well seeing it in a certain way, I think that could help to give more time to the development of the main games, and I explain it like this: many spin off games have a lot of history, lore that sometimes are not found in the main games, say games like Pokemon Ranger, Mystery Dungeon or even Game Cube games like Coliseum and XD, had stories that could still give more, if a "temporary" approach were given to some of those games, even giving them well-made anime/cartoons that were successful, I think the pressure for something new from the main saga would decrease, and thus we could have a more developed and polished main Pokemon game as it should be, well, that's my idea, maybe it would work and maybe not, but it would be interesting if the main games were given the opportunity to be well developed and the spin offs could be interesting and shine.
Huh, didn't expect this to be a teaser for a pre-show event, pretty cool - looking forward to that and of course even more so the Presents itself (if I can I'll react to the latter live on my YouTube channel)!
